It seems we are coming to the end of a long voyage – but one on a boat needing anchoring at both ends! For ‘The Beginning & The End’ is not only Genesis to Revelation, but also its very ‘Author & Perfecter of our Faith’ - Christ Jesus. He alone is the ‘Alpha & Omega’, our One true ‘Captain’... So, by this time we should, “no longer to be children, tossed here and there by waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, by craftiness in deceitful scheming”. Ephesians 4:14.
These are very difficult times and almost
certainly going to get more so, especially for serious-minded
Christian believers (Matt 24, 2 Tim 3). That is why we need to
look very carefully at all the Scriptures in the light of the command
to ‘Preach the Gospel of the Kingdom’
world-wide, whatever the cost. Jesus said that when that task is
complete, ‘Then the End will come’. But do
we realise that will also be a new Beginning!
This is however the message of the entire Bible, a truly radical message of Creation, Fall, Flood, Cross, Resurrection and Reconciliation, bringing about the awesome ‘Birth Pangs’ of His Return. Now more than ever we are seeing the world lurching into stronger labour pains, and the wonderful eternal realities they herald.
As evil men and impostors grow worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived, apart from ‘preaching the Gospel of the Kingdom,’ how can we be ready to suffer the persecution which is promised to all who choose to live godly in Christ Jesus? (2 Tim. 3:13-13) Surely we should be, ‘Looking for the blessed hope and the appearing of the glory of our great God & Saviour, Christ Jesus.” Even ‘Urging’ His return, as 2 Peter 3:12 says, as denial and dissent grow ever louder, even within the church! We should certainly be ‘On the watch’, and sounding the warning trumpet!
In July 2020, as the response to the Covid-19 pandemic caused chaos and social upheaval around the globe, Randall Hardy joined Philip Snow to organise a series of online seminars highlighting how the beginning of the universe we live in is directly relevant to its end.
Our aim is encourage Christians to take the warnings of Scripture seriously as the unrighteousness of human-kind reaches its fullness. As this collective rebellion ripens, those who are believers in Jesus the King will be called to stand firm as they witness to the righteousness of our Creator and shine as lights in the increasing darkness.
